Students in the College of Health and Human Services’ Honors Program are proud to partner with The Art of Life Cancer Foundation for “Fun in the Sun: A Family Wellness & Healing Art Event” on Sunday, March 20 from 1-3 p.m. at the Art of Life Healing Garden at Woodward Park.
Students in the program, whom encompass various majors within the college, have been working on this project for the past two semesters, as part of their honors coursework. The goal is to apply their learning in a culmination project that addresses the needs of the Central Valley. The students are responsible for the implementation and coordination of the event.
There will be three interactive stations for guests to enjoy, including healing arts, family fitness and nutrition. The event is free and open to the public.
The Healing Garden provides an opportunity for cancer survivors and families affected by cancer to partner with local landscapers and artists to reflect their own cancer experience on a 3-acre “canvas”. The Art of Life Cancer Foundation hopes this creates a space of sanctuary, celebration and healing for the Fresno community.
The garden is located off the Friant and Ft. Washington entrance. Entrance to Woodward Park is $5 per vehicle.
We’ll be sure to bring you more information about this event in an upcoming blog!
